Preface

For the last decade, software's moat was simple: "I can code, you can't."

Every SaaS company was built on this asymmetry. They positioned themselves between companies that owned customers and the products those customers needed. They built the pipes, captured the value, and threw back referral crumbs to the companies that actually owned the distribution.

With AI, that moat just disappeared.

When anyone can build software by describing what they want, the game changes completely.

Thesis

We believe AI has inverted how software is built and sold.

We call this Distribution-Native SaaS (DNS). (we’re trying to come up w/ a better acronym)

For a century, software was built by those who could code, then sold to those who had customers. That's backwards. In the DNS era, software is built by those who own distribution and understand their customers' needs.

We believe that within 5 years, the companies building software won't be software companies - they'll be the companies that own the customers. The 100-year-old associations. The insurance franchises. The utility companies. They have what no amount of VC funding can buy: millions of customers who trust them.

These companies have been bleeding billions in referral revenue because they couldn't build. Now they can. And we're building Cove to be the platform that makes that possible.

The game isn't about better code anymore. It's about who owns the customer. And the companies that own the customers are about to capture the value that was always theirs.
